Peter Karner Pottery

The studio produces six bodies of work a year, developing pieces that are thrown, thrown and altered, or hand-built. Visual depth in the patterning comes from five layered elements: wax resist, latex, dipping, and glaze brushwork applied to bisqued pots, followed by high-firing in a reduction atmosphere. That firing introduces trapped carbon in the base glaze as an unpredictable fifth element, finishing functional vessels compatible with modern appliances.
