Description

Rising 410 feet as a classic glacial drumlin, the reservation is forested with pine, oak, maple, and birch. A one-mile trail along its north-south axis links the woods to forty acres of open space. The ground carries a long agricultural past: beginning in 1651, the Pegan Indians under Reverend John Eliot lived on the hill and cleared it for cropland and pasture. After they perished by the 1760s, settlers took over the farming, leaving stone walls as the only remaining evidence of those agricultural days.
