Pedrick Store House
4.4 (8)museum
A preserved colonial timber warehouse that once bustled with maritime trade, vessel repairs, and a working sail loft.
Description

Constructed in 1770 in Marblehead, just across the harbor from Salem, the warehouse supported a trade network exchanging dried cod for Caribbean molasses, Madeira wine, and English goods. During the Revolution, merchant Thomas Pedrick commissioned privateers and likely stored captured British cargo inside. In 1809, Captain William Story replaced the wooden dock with a granite wharf, setting off decades of evolving harbor use: a ferry office occupied the ground floor, while the upper level operated as a sail loft until 1904. In 2003, the National Park Service stepped in to conserve its original eighteenth-century timbers.
