Philadelphia Museum of Art for Any Price, Then Sunset by the River

The clocks fall back on the morning the museum lets you name the price, which leaves sunset two minutes before the doors close. Two hours of galleries, then the river wall for the 4:58 light on Nov 1, with an optional drink uphill.

Pick your price, then walk downhill

🗺️ Two stops, one sunset

🎟️ Name your price, any amount

Name-your-price admission runs only on the first Sunday of every month, and Nov 1 is that Sunday. Book the pay-what-you-wish ticket online before you go: pick the date, choose the PWYW option and type your amount. Anyone 18 and under is free, though they still need a ticket. The Marcel Duchamp show is the exception, needing its own 35 dollar timed ticket that does include the museum. The Light the Way family festival runs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. that day, free with pay-what-you-wish admission.

🌇 The river wall at dusk

Give the galleries about two hours: 2:30 to 4:15, then out the door. The walk downhill takes eight minutes, and the Rocky steps and the skyline can eat another ten, so aim to be on the river wall by 4:40. On Nov 1 the sun sets at 4:58 p.m. The interpretive center keeps Wednesday-to-Saturday hours, so the building is shut on Sunday; the terrace, the river wall and the trail outside are open park ground and need no ticket.

🍺 Optional: one drink uphill

If you want one more stop after the light goes, Urban Saloon at 2120 Fairmount Avenue is open from 11 a.m. on Sundays, half a mile and eleven minutes uphill from the river wall. It is optional, not the point of the afternoon: the sunset is, and the walk back up the hill works without a drink.
