Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park
4.5 (11,460)park
Sunrise–Sunset
A 77-foot waterfall anchors this park, where scenic paths trace the raceways that once powered early American industry.
Description

Water from the Passaic River crashing over the cliffs once drove a manufacturing center that turned out silk cloth, locomotives, continuous paper rolls, and aircraft engines. Routes through the grounds lead down to lower-level viewing areas where the roar of the cascade is most intense. The surrounding open paths connect remnants of the old industrial complex with wide viewpoints, though the terrain offers minimal shade under direct sun.
