Past the Chocolate: A Red-Trolley Lunch Through Hershey's Restaurants

Chocolate made Hershey famous. This afternoon trolley run goes to its restaurants, where owners and chefs explain what they serve.

Ride the red trolley through Hershey's restaurants.

Yokl Tours started with a walking food tour in Memphis: Eileen Voyles took one in December 2023 and decided Hershey deserved its own. This is the company's afternoon run: three hours of Hershey restaurant stops by trolley, leaving at 2:00 PM.

It has 13 reviews so far. All 13 give it five stars.

A seat costs USD 119 per adult, and the booking page gives a full refund if you cancel at least 24 hours before departure.

What Lands on the Table

Yokl describes the stops as a handpicked selection of Hershey's most beloved dining rooms, each serving a tasting in its signature style with seasonal ingredients. Expect anything from small bites to comfort-food classics. Each tasting comes paired with a drink picked to go with it.

The booking page counts the tastings as lunch and lists bottled water. Yokl's FAQ says some of its tours may include alcoholic drinks for adults, and it asks guests with dietary restrictions to check with it ahead of time.

Chefs at the Table, History on the Ride

At the stops, chefs and restaurant owners share the inspiration behind their dishes, the local ingredients they work with and the stories that make each place its own. Between stops, the guide covers the region's history and its culinary traditions.

Yokl's FAQ puts its food tours aboard Lulu, a vintage-style red trolley. The company lists it as a 28-passenger vehicle built by HomeTown Trolley in Crandon, Wisconsin, and Lulu carried Yokl's first trolley tour on February 27, 2025.

The afternoon closes with a dessert tasting. Yokl's page calls it decadent.

Saturdays Only, and Not Every One

Departures leave at 2:00 PM. The current calendar has them on Saturdays only, about every other week: October 24, November 7 and 21, then December 5, 19 and 26.

Six afternoons remain on the calendar through December. Settle the tour date before the rest of the trip.

Who Pays the Adult Rate

The adult rate runs from age 4 to 64. A ten-year-old pays the full USD 119. Seniors 65 and over pay USD 109, and children 3 and under ride free on an adult's lap.

  • The listing rates the tour suitable for all physical fitness levels and allows service animals.
  • Yokl says many of its Hershey food tours are wheelchair accessible but some venues may have limits, and it asks guests to share mobility needs when they book.
  • The guide speaks English.

📍 Board at the Hershey History Center, 40 Northeast Drive. The listing places the pickup at the right rear of the building and says to look for the red trolley, and the museum's own site notes that the Yokl trolley leaves from there. Three hours later, the trolley brings you back to the same spot.
