Once New York’s first municipal airport, this 1,300 acre park preserves a former World War II naval air station. Its coastal setting includes grassland, saltmarshes, and tidal mudflats. The historic control tower and terminal now house the William Fitts Ryan Visitor Center. At the runway’s far end, Hangar B contains a museum about early aviators. The grounds also support waterfront camping, marina access, archery, fishing, and RC flying.

The fenced area sits across from quiet hiking and horse trails, adding a tranquil setting beyond the equipment. Since Union Turnpike is nearby, checking the gate locks is sensible.
