One New School Room Runs Yoga at 10, Hip Hop at 3

Twenty spots each, and sign-ups only open to students enrolled in a New School degree program.

Try vinyasa at 10, then hip hop with Helin.

Vinyasa at 10, and you set the pace

The Narwhal Yoga Club runs this hour with Cansu. Breath and movement stay linked, the pace is yours to set, and the sequences work toward balance, strength, and flexibility.

It is written for every experience level, so a first vinyasa is in scope. The club frames the session around presence and embodied awareness, treating the physical practice as a way to connect with yourself and the room you are in.

Recreation and Commuter Engagement co-runs it with the club.

🕙 Monday, 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM ET, Narwhal Fitness Room (UL205).

Hip hop fundamentals at 3, no background needed

The Dance Collective takes the same room five hours later, with Helin on hip hop fundamentals. The hour works through basic footwork and technique first, then opens toward personal expression once the mechanics land.

No dance background is assumed. The Dance Collective organizes it and Recreation and Commuter Engagement sponsors it, the same pairing behind the recurring Friday Polynesian dance workshop in this room.

🕒 Monday, 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM ET, UL205 on Lower Level 2.

Booking it, and who can

Both classes sit in the Narwhal Fitness Room, room UL205, on Lower Level 2 of the University Center at 63 Fifth Avenue. RSVP runs through NarwhalNation, the school own engagement site, one event page per class.

The New School lists its group fitness classes as free, and each of these two caps at 20 spots with no guests allowed on an RSVP. Sign-ups are limited to students enrolled in a degree program, with a NewCard and proof of health insurance.

Anyone taking a fitness class completes the recreation fitness waiver once. There is a second form, the Fitness Room Agreement, and that one covers card access to UL205 outside a led session.
