One Glass-Roofed Boat, Piano at Noon or a Live Band at Seven

A dining cruise from Chelsea Piers where the menu, the dress code and the music change with the sailing you pick.

Pick piano at noon or a band at seven from Chelsea Piers.

The boat that leaves Pier 61 has a roof made of glass, and that single detail decides how the trip feels. City Cruises runs it as three separate sailings under one listing. Lunch and brunch board for a 12:00 PM departure, dinner for 7:00 PM.

What changes across the three is more than the hour. The menu format, the music and the dress code all move with the sailing you book. Pick by whichever of those matters most to your table.

One Klook listing covers all three sailings, and you choose the date and the seating at checkout. Every sailing sells a guaranteed window table as a separate upgrade. A standard table covers the same route and the same menu. The upgrade buys the seat at the glass.

Tables are assigned by booking, which makes one detail worth getting right. A 2024 guest write-up of the dinner sailing put it plainly: "when you book, be sure to book for all of your group, and then they will create a table to your booking size." Split a party across two orders and you may end up at two tables.

The lunch sailing is the least expensive of the three and the dinner sailing the most. The figure you see at checkout moves with the date you pick.

The music tells you which sailing you booked

The lunch sailing leaves at noon with a live pianist and an à la carte menu. Brunch leaves at the same hour, swaps the piano for a DJ, and puts bottomless mimosas on the table. Dinner is the only one of the three with a vocalist and an acoustic band, and the only one where the operator asks for semi-formal attire.

The operator puts the dinner sailing at three hours and the brunch sailing at two and a half. The bar is stocked on all three and serves alcohol to guests 21 and over. Lunch and brunch list a child tier and let children three and under ride free. Check the child terms separately before booking dinner.

Conversation travels better at noon. The evening sailing suits a celebration.

Boarding is at Pier 61 on the Hudson side

Chelsea Piers sits on the Hudson at the western end of 23rd Street, and Pier 61 is one of the sheds in that complex. The listing address is 111C 11th Avenue. The dining boats tie up along the pier well past the street entrance. The walk from the curb to the gangway takes longer than the address suggests.

The nearest subway is the C and E at 23rd Street and Eighth Avenue, three long avenue blocks east of the water. The M23 crosstown bus runs to the river.

City Cruises sails other boats from Pier 15 at South Street Seaport. Those are different tickets on a different hull. Check which pier your confirmation names before you set out.

What the glass roof actually buys

City Cruises describes this as the only public dining cruise aboard a glass-enclosed vessel in New York City. The glass is what keeps a grey evening from changing the plan: the dining room was built enclosed, and the view sits on the other side of the window.

The route works both the Hudson and the East River. The vessel carries open deck space at the bow along with the enclosed dining room.

Settle these before you book

  • Pick the sailing first. The menu format, the music and the dress code all follow from it.
  • Dinner is listed as semi-formal. Brunch is listed as casual.
  • The guaranteed window table is a separate line on every sailing.
  • The meal sits inside the ticket. Drinks run on a cash bar and are settled on board.
  • Alcohol service is limited to guests 21 and over, bottomless mimosas included.
  • Klook shows a from-price that moves with the date and the sailing. The figure on the booking screen is the figure you pay.

City Cruises publishes a 4.5 rating across 1,379 reviews for its Pier 61 operation in New York. That figure covers every boat and every sailing leaving this pier, a wider set than this one ticket. The Klook listing is newer and carries no ratings of its own yet.

The pin above sits on The Lighthouse, the event space at the end of Pier 61. It marks the right pier. The boarding gate for the dining cruises is on the same pier, along the water side of the building.

Ticket Assurance, the operator's own flexible-booking option, allows a reschedule or refund up to two hours before boarding on most experiences, with special events, holidays and partner tours excluded. The cancellation terms that bind a Klook order are Klook's own, and they appear on the booking screen.

Board at Pier 61, Chelsea Piers. The route works both rivers, and the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge, One World Trade Center and the Empire State Building all pass the same stretch of glass.
