Off-Season Asbury Park: an Hour of Pinball on the Boardwalk
The indoor half of a shore day: over 150 pinball machines and arcade games on free play, a short walk from the off-season boardwalk.
🕹️ Free Play, No Quarters
NJ Transit runs from Penn Station to Asbury Park, 0.8 miles from the boardwalk, and some trips change at Long Branch. Time the return train. Passes are $17.50 an hour, $20 for six hours and $25 all day. The $5 viewing ticket needs a full-price pass.
Most of the 150-plus machines are 1970s and 1980s models, and the oldest is a 1931 Rotary Merchandiser. An hour covers a row and the 1972 Skee-Ball alley. Hours are 10 AM to 9 PM Sunday, 11 AM to 9 PM Monday to Thursday, 11 AM to midnight Friday, 10 AM to midnight Saturday. Half-day and all-day passes allow re-entry, not the hour pass.
