Positioned where Faneuil, Washington, and Tremont streets meet, the square functions as a neighborhood hub bordered by local businesses, playgrounds, and community services. Given the intersection setting, the space can be noisy from surrounding traffic. Situated about six miles from the coast, the area is also less influenced by winter winds off the warmer ocean, giving it a reputation as one of the city's snowiest pockets.
