Description

In 2018, approximately 13,000 marram grass plants (Ammophila breviligulata) were installed east of the Lakefront Trail, heading north along North Avenue Beach. Beyond encouraging dune formation, the sand-loving plantings aim to increase habitat connectivity and buffer areas from erosion during high wave activity. They also function practically to reduce sand deposition onto the Lakefront Trail, earning the spot praise for its native greenery and great views.
