Description

Before becoming a park, this land served as a prehistoric meeting place for the Arapaho and the site of the original settlement that became Denver. Spared from demolition by a 1970 grassroots movement, the three-acre park opened to the public in 1977 following restoration. Built between 1872 and 1906, the surviving buildings now house university offices, restaurants, and other businesses, with formal listings on both the Denver Landmark Preservation list and the National Register of Historic Places.
