Ninety Minutes of Manhattan Lights From an Open Top Deck

An open top double-decker loop past Times Square, the Empire State Building and the Brooklyn Bridge, with a live host.

Catch Manhattan's night lights from an open top deck.

The bus boards on 7th Avenue while Times Square is still at full volume. Ninety minutes later it returns to the same block. Nothing in between is a stop. The upper deck is where you spend the whole ride, watching the city pass at the height of a second floor.

Two departures run every day, at 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Which one is actually dark depends on the season. New York sunset runs from about 4:30 PM in December to about 8:30 PM in June. Both departures carry a live host who talks through the route, and that is what separates this ticket from the audio-guide version of the same night tour.

The Three Landmarks You Are Promised

Three landmarks are named outright: Times Square, the Empire State Building, and the Brooklyn Bridge. The rest of the loop is whatever the route and the traffic give you that night.

The Upper Deck Decides Your Night

The open deck has no roof, and the bus keeps moving for the full ninety minutes. Seating is first come, first served, which makes arrival time the one thing you control. Recent riders report long lines at the stop and departures that ran behind the posted time, one by about forty minutes. Restrooms are not on board. The tour runs rain or shine. In winter, what you wear decides how much of the ride you spend upstairs.

Your Ticket Lives in the App

Boarding needs a digital ticket inside the TopView app. After booking, find the Tour Operator Confirmation Number in your confirmation email or on the voucher PDF, then enter it in the app. Paper vouchers are not accepted at the bus. Set this up before you leave for 7th Avenue.

Who It Works For

This is a panoramic ride with no stops and no admission included. Anyone who wants to get off and walk around a landmark should book something else. Children need an adult with them, and infants ride on a lap. Wheelchair access is limited and has to be arranged with the operator in advance.

The pin above sits on Father Duffy Square, at 200 West 47th Street. TopView Bus Stop 1, where this tour actually boards, is the block just north of it, on 7th Avenue between 47th and 48th. Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for a full refund. On time, the 8:00 PM bus is back on 7th Avenue around 9:30. Hell's Kitchen is two blocks west, so keep the table loose and walk over when you land.
