The name goes back to 1949, when a Broadway club billed itself after Charlie Parker, the alto player everyone called Bird. This West 44th Street room carries that legacy forward, seating diners at small tables that face a low stage washed in red and blue light. Sets run most nights of the week, from piano trios and vocalists to the Birdland Big Band and Arturo O'Farrill's Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra. A second space downstairs, the Birdland Theater, adds cabaret and early-evening bills. Reservations move the front tables, and the kitchen sends out plates through the first set.
