4.8 (79)attraction
Hidden on Mt. Tamalpais, this historic alpine lodge rewards hikers on select days with cold beer and patio views.
Description

Austrian and German immigrants established the club in 1912, hauling materials across the mountain by hand before roads existed. The hand-built retreat is decorated with traditional Bäuerliche Malerei (folk paintings) and houses a rustic Bierstube. Though primarily private, it opens to the public on designated Guest Days and for annual gatherings like Maifest, Sommerfest, and Oktoberfest, where visitors settle in around tables with board games and snacks.
