Description

Established by the Autism Research Institute next to its Kensington offices, the collection draws heavily from materials gathered by researcher and parent advocate Dr. Bernard Rimland. Displays chart the clinical and cultural shifts of the past century, detailing changes in diagnostic criteria since 1961, reported prevalence rates spanning 1966 to 2022, and the origins of Applied Behavior Analysis. Further exhibits explore how the medical community recognized autism over time, highlighting Dr. Temple Grandin's work alongside media portrayals involving popular figures.
