Established in 2012 by the Times Up! environmental group, the museum is housed inside the historic C-Squat. It functions as an archive of Lower East Side resistance, documenting how local activists reclaimed vacant lots and fought park redevelopment. The collection uses photography, video, and authentic artifacts to tell stories of occupation and protest, stretching from local neighborhood defense to the Occupy Wall Street actions at Zuccotti Park. Beyond the indoor exhibits, volunteers lead guided walking tours that show how these radical, sustainable designs eventually shaped the wider city.
