Description

Built in 1735, the tavern briefly served as a British field hospital and headquarters for Lord Percy during the Redcoats' retreat to Boston on April 19, 1775. Downstairs exhibits present the day's events from the British viewpoint, while the upper floor focuses on the reality of a family household commandeered by enemy soldiers. Visitors explore at their own pace, with rooms that also preserve the space where President Washington dined in 1789.
