A Westside clay cooperative where local women shape personal histories and cultural memory into handmade ceramics.
Description

Operating out of a Westside house since 1995 as an Esperanza program, the collective works where each woman is both teacher and student through shared creativity and cultural experience. Guided by experienced ceramicists, members hand-shape clay into snapshots of their lives as workers, heads of households, and marginalized women. Beyond welcoming visitors into the working studio, the cooperative mounts exhibits year-round at the Esperanza gallery and community spaces across the city, including schools, libraries, and local art fairs.
