Muir Woods Before the Crowds, on the 7:15 AM Departure

Half a day over the Golden Gate to Muir Woods and Sausalito. Take the morning run and the redwoods are still quiet.

Incredible Adventures runs this half day from San Francisco twice a day, at 7:15 AM and 1:15 PM. Both runs cross the Golden Gate Bridge, give you 90 minutes in Muir Woods National Monument and 45 minutes in Sausalito, and include the park entrance fee.

Pick the 7:15 AM or the 1:15 PM option when you book. Adults are 13 and up on this listing, and children 12 and under book at a lower child rate. The operator's own booking system holds 23 places on each departure.

What the Early Departure Buys You in Muir Woods

Muir Woods opens at 8:00 AM every day of the year, and the café and gift shop follow at 9:00 AM. The listing sells the morning run on early access and fewer crowds, and riders who took it describe exactly that. One September 2025 rider wrote that their group had the park nearly to itself for the first hour, until it "filled up by about 9am." Another, in August 2025, said they were "some of the first people in the park."

The afternoon run is a different trip. It makes an extra pickup in Sausalito before heading to the woods, reaches the park later in the day, and gets you back to the city around 6:00 PM. If the redwoods are the reason you are going, book the 7:15 AM departure.

Inside the park, riders describe the guide giving an overview and a trail suggestion, then everyone exploring at their own pace with a park map in hand. One rider found ninety minutes right for the boardwalk trail at a leisurely pace. Several others still wished they had longer among the trees.

Forty-Five Minutes in Sausalito, or the Ferry Home

After the woods the minicoach drops down into Sausalito for a narrated drive through town and 45 minutes of free time on foot. Riders spend it shopping, getting an ice cream or just sitting down for a while. On the morning run, one July 2026 rider found that "in the AM almost nothing was open."

You can also stay behind. The listing lets you skip the ride back and return to San Francisco by ferry, and the operator points to boats into Fisherman's Wharf or the San Francisco Ferry Building, with departures that change by season. The ferry is not included and is paid by card or Clipper card when you board. One rider found the next boat left an hour after the minicoach, and another warned that two ferry lines leave at different times, so match your ticket to your boat.

The Road In Winds, and the Bridge Can Vanish in Fog

The last stretch into Muir Woods is a narrow, winding road, and it comes up in reviews from 2024 through 2026, usually from riders who loved the rest of the day. One February 2026 rider put it plainly: "the last few miles of the ride into the park is rough if you’re prone to car sickness." If motion sickness is an issue for you, take your usual remedy before pickup.

The Golden Gate photo stop on the way out is listed as weather permitting, and riders have found the bridge wrapped in fog, especially in summer. The listing asks you to bring warm layers because the woods and the waterfront can be foggy and windy, plus sun protection, comfortable walking shoes and a raincoat in the winter months.

Car Seats, Access and What the Park Allows

The operator's booking notes follow California's car-seat law: children under 2 ride rear-facing in a car seat, and children under 8 need a car seat or booster in the back. It keeps a limited number of seats on a first-come basis, asks for at least 48 hours' notice, and recommends bringing your own. The listing has a special-requirements box at checkout for this.

Inside Muir Woods, the National Park Service lends wheelchairs at the Visitor Center on a first-come basis, and one August 2025 rider borrowed one for a partner with limited mobility. A raised boardwalk runs several hundred feet to Founders Grove, and past it the path turns to asphalt with cracks from tree roots. The listing does not mark this tour as wheelchair accessible and says nothing about the minicoach itself.

  • Pets are not allowed in Muir Woods. Only working service animals may enter.
  • There is no cell service at or around Muir Woods, so download anything you need before pickup.
  • Tips for the guide are not included.

📍 The 7:15 AM run picks up at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square (Mason Street entrance), then at 7:35 AM at Hotel Riu Plaza Fisherman's Wharf on the North Point Street side. It drops off at Fisherman's Wharf only, around 12:15 PM, and does not return to the Hilton. The 1:15 PM run picks up at the Riu Plaza, then at 2:00 PM at The Joinery, 300 Turney Street in Sausalito, and drops off at Fisherman's Wharf around 6:00 PM and the Hilton around 6:15 PM.

One field of the listing names a Beach Street loading zone for the Fisherman's Wharf stop instead. The operator asks every guest to follow the pickup time and place it sends directly, so go by that message. Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for a full refund; inside 24 hours there is no refund. The listing also allows the operator to cancel for bad weather or too few travelers.

Then it is back over the Golden Gate, with the Marin hills behind you.
