The Academy Museum Horror Show hosts a day of movie vampires, effects demos and the US premiere of a 4K Horror of Dracula.

Spend Saturday with movie vampires.

🧛 Monster Mash on October 24

🎬 What the Day Holds

The Academy Museum turns Saturday, October 24, over to movie vampires for its Monster Mash festival, starting at 11:00 AM with special-effects demos, guided tours and creature appearances around the building. The program includes the US premiere of the 4K restoration of Horror of Dracula from 1958, a rare chance to see Christopher Lee's count at full sharpness.

🕯️ Through the Six Chambers

Upstairs, The Horror Show fills the fourth-floor Marilyn and Jeffrey Katzenberg Gallery with original props, costumes and production materials. The route runs through six chambers, Gothic, Psychological, Science, Slasher, Religion and Ghosts, each built around why audiences pay to be scared. The exhibition stays open through July 25, 2027.

🎟️ Planning the Visit

The museum sits at 6067 Wilshire Boulevard and opens six days a week from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, closed on Tuesdays. A second date, Museum After Dark on October 31, screens The Craft for anyone who misses the Saturday program. Dorothy's Ruby Slippers stay on view in the permanent galleries for a break from the fright.
