Mount Wanda Trailhead
4.5 (274)park
Oak woodlands once roamed by John Muir climb to sweeping summit views across the Carquinez Strait and Mount Diablo.
Description

The 325-acre property was saved by the John Muir Land Trust to protect wildlife habitat, keeping open the ground Muir once walked with his daughters Wanda and Helen. Visitors can hike, bike, ride a horse, or walk a dog across grassy hills dotted with shooting stars, fiddlenecks, and California buttercups. Canopies of coast live oak, blue oak, and valley oak line the ascent up Mount Wanda, while the more gradual John Muir Nature Trail provides an alternate path with sights reaching Briones Park.
