4.7 (899)museum
Around $0.00
Set in a 1930s fossil-stone tower atop the peak, this center pairs natural history exhibits with sweeping summit views.
Description

Built from fossiliferous sandstone blocks quarried in the park, the late-1930s structure was renovated in 2010 to chart the cultural and natural record of Mount Diablo State Park. Inside, exhibits detail the terrain through a physical model of the mountain, panels on Native American history, and an instructional video on tectonic forces. An ecosystem diorama with native sounds anchors the wildlife displays, while a circular stairway and an elevator connect the floor to an audio-visual room, gift shop, and the summit observation deck.
