Description

Rope-maker Richard Parrott established the property in 1804, adding orchards, a Federal-style mansion, and space for rope manufacturing. Preserved features from its century as a private estate include a summerhouse and mature canopy trees along the plateau's edge. Following a campaign led by Sarah Louise Rittenhouse, landscape architects George Burnap and Horace Peaslee redesigned the grounds into a civic space, which today incorporates pickleball courts and a playground.
