Montgomery-Waller Community Park
4.5 (1,691)park
A San Diego park where athletic fields meet aviation history, anchored by a striking 90-foot WWII bomber wing.
Description

The park's aviation ties trace back to August 28, 1883, when John Montgomery launched his glider from a nearby hillside in Otay Mesa. In 1950, the grounds received their defining monument: a silver wing from a Consolidated Aircraft B-32 'Dominator' heavy bomber. Following a 1964 land donation by the family of Luckie Waller, the property expanded its community role. Today, the park grounds support an active recreation center with a gymnasium, lighted basketball courts, and picnic areas, along with multi-purpose fields lined for baseball, softball, soccer, and Pop Warner.
