Montgomery (Mabel) Park
3.9 (45)park
A modest Chicago Lawn park featuring a playground, created after World War II to bring play space to the neighborhood.
Description

Purchased with Playground Bond funds in 1951 and 1952, the site was originally transformed into a playlot with playground equipment, a sandbox, and a drinking fountain. Oversight passed to the Chicago Park District in 1957, followed by multiple playground renovations across subsequent decades.
The grounds honor Mabel Montgomery, a lifelong Chicagoan active in civic, fraternal, and religious groups who directed Red Cross and War Bond drives and raised money for cancer research and iron lungs.
