Description

Tucked behind the recycling facility on Pruitt Road, the land holds a notable conservation milestone: it is protected under the nation’s first conservation easement, held by the Legacy Land Trust. Rather than just passive woods, the grounds serve as a regular base for community science. Local Master Naturalists and the Butterfly Enthusiasts of Southeast Texas (B.E.S.T.) gather here to host official national butterfly counts, monitor regional water quality, and run public educational programs.
