Mission San Juan
4.7 (1,836)attraction
An 18th-century Spanish mission where quiet limestone ruins share the grounds with an active demonstration farm.
Description

Established in eastern Texas in 1716 and relocated along the San Antonio River in 1731, the settlement developed into a self-sustaining community where Indigenous artisans produced iron tools and cloth alongside extensive crops. The grounds preserve the historic stone church, friary, and granary, while the living demonstration farm is cultivated in partnership with the San Antonio Food Bank. Off the main compound, the scenic, ADA-accessible Yanaguana Trail offers a route to observe local wildlife.
