Millennium Biltmore Hotel Los Angeles: A Stay With a Story
An indoor lens on a Downtown landmark, with five other Los Angeles hotels to compare.
A hotel whose interiors tell the story
On a layover, I look for the story behind the brick before I choose a bed. Millennium Biltmore Hotel Los Angeles puts that instinct at 506 S Grand Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90071, USA. Its Italian Renaissance and Mediterranean Revival architecture carries through sweeping staircases, hand-painted fresco ceilings and crystal chandeliers. Bronze and brass details give the eye somewhere to linger.
For me, the appeal of a stay here is the building itself. The Gallery Bar and Crystal Ballroom are part of a hotel story that includes films, galas and presidential visits. I would choose it for those layered interiors rather than turn every Downtown hotel into the same kind of escape. The five hotels below are other Los Angeles places to stay, each with its own setting and character.
