Description

Rooted on an active training ground at Lackland Air Force Base, the monument charts the U.S. war-dog program from World War II to the Wars on Terror. At its core stands a 9.5-foot bronze handler alongside sculpted figures of four pivotal working breeds: the Doberman Pinscher, German Shepherd, Labrador Retriever, and Belgian Malinois. The memorial commemorates the shared service, bravery, and sacrifice of canine teams across decades of conflict, giving focused physical shape to a specialized chapter of military history.
