Description

Conceived by Olmsted and Vaux as part of Chicago's original South Park plan, this 72-acre green corridor famously served as the amusement site for the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. Today, the mile-long stretch through Hyde Park balances community programming with multi-purpose fields and winter gardens, dotted with civic monuments. A dedicated warming center supports seasonal activities across its open lawns, offering ample room for peaceful walks.
