Rusty Pelican sits on Virginia Key and looks west across Biscayne Bay. The sun goes down to the southwest, over the causeway toward Coconut Grove, while the Brickell and downtown towers stand to the north and catch the last light.
After clocks fall back, sunset comes around 5:39 PM on November 1, slips toward 5:30 by late November, then drifts later through winter, to about 6:14 by mid-February. Sunset Hour runs weekdays from 4 to 6:30 PM only in the Bar and Lounge, with two-dollar oysters and drinks from four dollars. The deal follows the lounge, not any view table, so ask where you are seated before ordering.
Arrive about 40 minutes before sunset and order the oysters first. Stay a while after sunset to watch the changing colors over Biscayne Bay. A quick call before the drive confirms the current menu.
