Description

Discovered in 1998, the site preserves a 38-foot-wide circle of basin holes and postholes cut into the oolitic limestone bedrock, offering rare physical evidence of South Florida’s pre-Columbian history. Encountering it today comes with an important caveat: the archaeological carving is often covered for preservation or not directly viewable, meaning the visit is less about an open excavation and more about standing where that ancient footprint remains embedded in the city.
