Reached down a subterranean staircase, the venue takes its name from Al’s Market, which previously occupied the street corner. Part of an interconnected McMenamins compound alongside the Zeus Café, the space keeps an intimate, whimsical feel while remaining deceivingly large.

The bar pairs its drinks with food options from the Zeus kitchen alongside a live schedule running nearly every night of the week. Beyond live music, the stage hosts free weeknight comedy showcases where local and out-of-town comics test out working material in a test-audience atmosphere.
