Description

Running from the Bay Bridge to Richmond, the park encompasses 1,833 acres of uplands and tidelands across the waterfronts of Oakland, Emeryville, Berkeley, Albany, and Richmond. The reserve grew out of decades of citizen campaigns to safeguard the bay as public open space, shaped by consensus among thousands of stakeholders and dedicated in honor of Save The Bay co-founder Sylvia McLaughlin. Paralleling the East Bay's most heavily traveled corridor, it embeds an accessible recreational shoreline within an intensely urbanized setting.
