McKeon (Joseph T., Jr.) Park
4.3 (20)park
A fenced Bridgeport playlot with a modern soft-surface playground, swings, and decades of neighborhood history.
Description

Acquired in 1948 to meet post-World War II recreation needs, the site originally opened with a sand box and gravel surface known as Wallace Playlot. It transferred to the Chicago Park District in 1957, and was renamed a decade later to honor Lt. Joseph T. McKeon, Jr., a U.S. Marine killed in the Vietnam War.
Renovated under the Chicago Plays! Program, the half-acre parcel serves as an active community space. There is no structured programming held here, leaving the grounds open for casual, self-guided neighborhood visits.
