Artists get studio time and fabrication support here, using textiles and other unconventional materials to move a project toward the galleries. At the Fabric Workshop and Museum, collaborations emerge as installations and changing exhibitions. The creative process stays close to the finished work, with a working studio at the heart of the museum.
The program spans creation, presentation, and preservation of contemporary art. Look beyond the finished objects to the material experiments and partnerships behind them. This is a place to follow an idea as it takes physical form, with artists exploring new media in a collaborative workshop setting.
Plan around the shorter weekend window. Doors open Wednesday through Friday from noon to 6 pm and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 pm, with Monday and Tuesday closed. On weekends, closing time is one hour earlier than Wednesday through Friday. Leave room for the galleries before that 5 pm finish.
