Description

Established in 1986 through the efforts of SUNY Maritime professor Captain Monroe, the museum sits on a peninsula campus where gallery space curiously doubles as student classrooms. Visitors move through a casual, self-guided layout filled with maritime art, historic artifacts, and interactive displays on global shipping history. The collection features ship models spanning multiple eras, including a detailed scale model of the World War II Brooklyn Navy Yard.
