Description

Named after Phoenix’s first female mayor, the grounds stretch between 3rd Avenue and 3rd Street, anchoring an uncommon cluster of civic institutions. Within its perimeter sit the Japanese Friendship Garden, the Irish Cultural Center and McClelland Irish Library, and the Phoenix Center for the Arts, alongside Burton Barr Central Library. Architectural history surfaces at the 1919 Winship House, an Arts and Crafts Movement home preserved on site. The open acreage also accommodates a splash pad and dog park and frequently hosts community events, though conditions across the park can vary.
