Description

Across from Lake Forest Park Town Center, this compact 0.89-acre space marks a specific ecological threshold: it is the first creek mouth salmon encounter after leaving the Sammamish River into Lake Washington. Lyon Creek flows down from wetlands in south Snohomish County, passing around and beneath the town center before emptying into the lake along 250 feet of stream channel.

Once late-nineteenth-century residential ground, the preserve was cleared and regraded in 2015 to establish a bermed floodplain, then replanted across disturbed areas with around 4,000 native plants.
