Lunch Across Five Silver Lake Spots, Led by a Comedian Guide

A three-hour walk through Silver Lake with five food stops in the ticket and a guide who works jokes into the neighborhood's history.

Hollywood Hikes runs this three-hour walk through Silver Lake, the hilly neighborhood on Sunset Boulevard east of Hollywood. It starts and ends at Ceci's Gastronomia, and the ticket covers food at five places along the way.

The listing promises Thai, focaccia, pizza, tacos and a sandwich, picked and led by a guide who does comedy. Between bites the guide covers how the neighborhood grew and the people behind each kitchen.

📍 There is one departure, at 11:30 AM, Tuesday through Sunday, with no tour on Mondays. A ticket is USD 85 per person, the same price at every age, and one departure takes up to 15 travelers.

Five Stops, From Focaccia to Pizza

The booking page lists the plan as award-winning Thai, focaccia bread, a pizza the operator ranks among LA's top three, a new take on tacos and a big sandwich. Ceci's Gastronomia, where the walk begins, is known for Genovese-style focaccia from its Italian chef-owners.

The exact lineup shifts. On one July 2025 visit, a traveler listed a chopped burger at Bodega Park, falafel tacos at Mid East Tacos, Taiwanese food at Pine & Crane, an upside-down pizza at LA Sorted and tiramisu back at Ceci's. Portions run generous. One October 2024 group boxed up its pizza to take home.

Comedy, History and the Music Box Steps

Reviewers name several guides, most often Matt, along with Anthony and Max. A July 2024 traveler wrote that Anthony performs with the Groundlings, the LA comedy theater, and reviews keep pairing the jokes with the history lessons.

A June 2025 traveler wrote about going up the Music Box Steps, the staircase from Laurel and Hardy's 1932 short The Music Box. Another, in July 2025, mentioned a small Laurel and Hardy park and a run of 135 steps along the route.

Hills, Stairs and What Costs Extra

The listing calls the walk suitable for all fitness levels, but reviewers warn of a few big hills, some stairs and more walking than they expected. It is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health or a pregnancy. Strollers can come along and service animals are allowed.

Alcohol, soda and the guide's tip are not included, so bring a little extra. On one hot July 2024 day, the guide offered the group options to stay comfortable, and the walk ended with ice cream.

Group Size, Tickets and Refunds

A shared departure takes up to 15 people, and one booking can cover up to 15. There is no separate child ticket, so kids pay the same USD 85.

Cancel at least 24 hours before the 11:30 AM start for a full refund; inside 24 hours nothing is refunded. The listing also allows the operator to cancel for bad weather.

📍 Meet at Ceci's Gastronomia, 2813 W Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, where the walk also ends. The map pin marks Same Same Thai at 2835 Sunset Blvd, a few doors away on the same block, because Ceci's is not yet on the map. Street parking can take a second try, so leave a few extra minutes. Come hungry and skip a big breakfast.
