Description

Originally supporting Portland's former Lovejoy Ramp, these concrete columns were painted between 1948 and 1952 by artist Tom Vaughan (Athanasios Efthimiou), who covered them in dancers, musicians, Native Americans, Greek mythology, and historical figures. Saved from demolition during the Pearl District's redevelopment, the structures were removed, restored, and relocated to a protected site as a monument to outsider art and local history.
