Los Penasquitos Canyon County Preserve
4.7 (639)park
Miles of trails trace 4,000 canyon acres, linking a flowing waterfall and a restored 1820s adobe ranch house.
Description

Stretching roughly seven miles from the Interstate 5 and 805 merge to east of Interstate 15, the preserve covers both Peñasquitos and Lopez Canyons. The land holds Native American history dating back as far as 7,000 years, with prehistoric remains still found across the terrain. It later became part of the first Mexican land grant in San Diego County. Today, the County offers public and school tours of the restored Santa Maria de Los Peñasquitos Adobe, sharing an 1820s legacy within an open corridor jointly managed by the city and county.
