Long Island City Sushi and Ramen With Late Saturday Izakaya
Eat Long Island City sushi from a Kanagawa-born chef, with aged Double Toro, ramen, and a Saturday izakaya to midnight.
🍣 Sushi for the People
Aged Double Toro is the a la carte order to make at Yanagi, a Long Island City sushi spot where the chef centers craft over commercial trends. Juicy karaage pairs with highballs, and sukiyaki and ramen round out the menu.
Chef Yanagi grew up in Kanagawa, Japan, began apprenticing at 18, and worked across Japan and the United States before taking over the former Suzuki Shokudo space. His aim is sushi for the people, with fresh ingredients and warm service. Lunch is the easy introduction, with bento boxes or donburi, and lunch sets and ramen run 15 to 27 dollars. Sushi omakase costs 73 dollars at lunch and 78 to 118 dollars at dinner.
Monday through Saturday run from noon to 3 PM and again from 5 PM to a quarter to ten at night. On Saturday a late izakaya runs from half past nine to midnight, and Sunday is closed.
