House of Blues Chicago is a concert hall built into the base of Marina City, the pair of corncob towers that rise over the Chicago River in River North. Carved opera boxes and iron balconies wrap a velvet-draped stage, and the walls carry the folk-art portraits and mosaics that give the room its cluttered, hand-made character.
The calendar runs from touring rock and hip-hop acts to blues, gospel brunch, and tribute nights, most of them general-admission floor shows. One flight up, the members-styled Foundation Room keeps a low-lit lounge for a drink before the set. The hall sits steps from the Dearborn Street bridge and the State Street shopping stretch, a short walk from the Loop, and a show pairs easily with dinner nearby.
