Live Gospel Choir Concerts in a Historic Harlem Church
Gospel concerts turn a Harlem church into a participatory gathering where visitors dance, clap, and join discussions.
⛪ Church in Motion
Mount Olivet Baptist Church carries its 1878 origins into a Harlem program that joins worship, community outreach, and live gospel performance. The singers do more than hold the room. During Saturday morning shows, they invite the audience to dance and clap, and a funny choirmaster keeps the discussion moving between songs.
The weekly calendar reaches well beyond concerts. Sunday brings Sunday School at 9 AM and a general worship service at 11 AM. Community meals and clothing distribution run Monday from 12 PM to one thirty PM, while the food pantry and clothing distribution return Tuesday and Wednesday at ten thirty AM. Wednesday also adds prayer meetings at 12 PM and seven thirty PM.
At 201 Lenox Avenue, the church stays tied to everyday Harlem life, with outreach running alongside the music. Arrive ready to listen closely, move with the choir, and leave room for conversation when the morning program opens out to the crowd.
