Description

Before becoming public parkland in 1938, the acreage carried a mixed past: Aaron Meier’s estate sold off timber rights to loggers while local Boy Scouts used the grounds and an on-site cabin. Once the estate transferred the deed to the city, the Scouts and community groups stepped in to reforest the property and adjoining land. The park takes its name from Senator Lewis F. Linn, the Missouri lawmaker dubbed the "Father of Oregon" for championing the Donation Land Act that granted free acreage to settlers.
