A Federal-style mansion above the Schuylkill River whose historic grounds sparked the creation of Fairmount Park.
Description

Wealthy merchant Henry Pratt constructed the mansion in 1800 as the centerpiece of his garden estate, on land once owned by Revolutionary War financier Robert Morris. The house took its name from the citrus fruits cultivated on the grounds by Morris and Pratt. A beloved place of recreation for nineteenth-century Philadelphians, it became the first property purchased by the City of Philadelphia in creating Fairmount Park.
