Lebanon The Portland Tree
4.9 (126)attraction
Tucked into the hills of Goose Hollow, this 1870s Cedar of Lebanon invites rain-bathing and five-second tree hugs.
Description

Planted by early Portlanders, the tree is an official Cedar of Lebanon (Cedrus libani) originating in the Eastern Mediterranean basin. Local theories persist that it might be a fake, spurred by claims that the species supposedly has a zero-percent chance of surviving outside its native habitat. Alongside its quirky visiting customs, the setting invites people to read tree books under the branches, drawing praise from visitors as a peaceful, offbeat landmark.
